Puerto Rican Culture

In Spanish class, we recently finished learning about the interesting culture of Puerto Rico. The population in Puerto Rico is a mere four million. The area is 3.515 squared miles. One one the many attractions is "El Parque de Bombas. "  "El Parque de Bombas" is also known as "The Pearl of the South." It is located on the southern side of Puerto Rico in Ponce, and is not far from the Caribbean Coast.  The city of Ponce was established in 1692.  It was named after Spanish explorer Don Ponce de Leon.  He was also the first governor of Puerto Rico. El Parque de Bombas is considered to be the best example of Puerto Rican village architecture. There is a wooden structure in El Parque de Bombas, which was constructed to house the agricultural and industrial exhibits for the fair of 1882.  Then it had other functions such as a music hall, and a place for the city's firemen to have their band perform. After 1990 it became a museum dedicated to their city's firemen.  El Parque de Bombas, is just one of the many beautiful attractions in Puerto Rico.
