speed Lab -Annabelle

In science we have learned about velocity, speed, and acceleration over the past week.  We have taken notes and did many examples.  Recently we did a speed lab.  The first thing we did was make a chart saying everyone in the class' names and make a column for speed and time.  Next, we went outside and measured out 15 meters with a yard stick.  Then we all lined up and got ready to run.  Ms. Miller timed us with her phone as we ran past her.  Once someone ran, we recorded it on our chart.  We did this everytime for each student.  When it was my turn to run I got 2.7 seconds.  After everyone ran, we went inside to go to our next class.  For homework we ha to calculate the speed.  To find the speed you divide meters by seconds and that gives you your average speed.  The units for speed is usually meters per second.  My average was 5.5 meters per second.  This lab was very fun to do to show us how to calculate speed.
